Push Notifications

NeatHub sends push notifications to your phone when items are about to expire or running low on stock, even if the app is not open.

In Simple Terms

Push notifications work just like alerts from other apps on your phone β€” when your milk is about to expire or your laundry detergent is running low, NeatHub will pop up a reminder in your notification bar. Tap it to go directly to the item.

Notification Types

NeatHub currently supports the following types of push notifications:

  • Expiry Reminders: Sent when an item is approaching its expiry date (requires setting an expiry date on the item first; see Expiry Reminders)
  • Stock Reminders: Sent when an item's quantity falls below the set threshold (see Stock Reminders)

Enabling Push Notifications

  • Allow the app to send notifications

When you first open NeatHub, the system will ask whether to allow notifications β€” please select "Allow". If you previously declined, you will need to enable it manually in your phone's system settings.

  • Set reminder conditions

Set an expiry date or stock threshold for your items, and the system will automatically send notifications when the conditions are triggered.

Not Receiving Notifications?

If you have set up reminders but are not receiving push notifications, follow these troubleshooting steps:

iOS Users

  • Open your phone's "Settings" β†’ "Notifications" β†’ find "NeatHub"
  • Make sure "Allow Notifications" is turned on
  • Make sure at least one of "Banners", "Sounds", or "Badges" is enabled
  • Check if "Focus Mode" (Do Not Disturb) is on β€” Focus Mode may block notifications

Android Users

  • Open your phone's "Settings" β†’ "App Management" β†’ find "NeatHub" β†’ "Notifications"
  • Make sure notification permissions are enabled
  • Some phone brands (Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, etc.) require additional settings:
  • Disable "Battery Saver" restrictions for NeatHub
  • Add NeatHub to the "Auto-start" whitelist
  • Set NeatHub to "Not Optimized" in "Battery Optimization"

Web Version Users

The web version does not currently support push notifications. Reminder features are only available on mobile (iOS / Android).

Tip

Push notifications require a network connection. If your phone is offline for an extended period, notifications may be delayed.

Use Cases

Food Shelf Life Management

Set expiry dates for food in your fridge. Get notified when items are about to expire so you can handle them in time and avoid waste.

Household Supply Restock Reminders

Set stock thresholds for household items like laundry detergent and tissues (e.g., remind when only 1 is left). Restock promptly when you receive the notification.

Document Expiry Reminders

Set expiry dates for passports, driver's licenses, insurance policies, etc. Get notified in advance to avoid issues caused by expired documents.
