Sharing an Inventory

Share an Inventory with family, colleagues or friends: what they open is the record itself--its name, notes, linked items and canvases.

Overview

Inventories support public sharing and collaborative upkeep:

  • Once public sharing is on, send the link or view code to the other person
  • Turn public sharing off at any time and the link stops working
  • Collaborators who have edit rights on that Inventory can change it directly

Sharing an Inventory

  • Open the Inventory detail page and tap "Public Share"
  • Choose "Private" or "Public" at the top of the sheet
  • Tap "Copy Link", or save the QR code / barcode
  • Send the link or code to the other person

Sharing Scope

Public Sharing

  • Produces a link and view code you can send
  • Anyone holding the link can view it
  • Handy for sending one record to travel companions or friends
  • Switch back to Private anytime to revoke public sharing

Private

  • Only you can view the Inventory
  • No link is exposed
  • This is the default setting

Share Link

With public sharing turned on you can send it out:

  • Copy the link and send it, or save it as a QR code or barcode
  • Recipients open it in NeatHub to view the Inventory
  • Viewers can only see items within the shared Inventory
  • They cannot access any other items outside it
Note

Sharing an Inventory does not expose other items in your item library. Only the items linked to that Inventory are visible to viewers.

Collaborative Editing

What the other person can do depends on the rights you grant:

  • View Only: Can only view the Inventory content, cannot make changes
  • Can Edit: Can add or remove items, rename it, and edit the layout and canvases

Share Management

Under "Settings" > "Share Management" you can:

  • View all Inventory lists you have shared
  • Check sharing status and permission settings
  • Disable or modify sharing settings

Use Cases

Moving & Travel

  • Create a packing Inventory
  • Share it with the people traveling with you
  • Both sides check against the same record

Stock-take Handover

  • Create an Inventory for one counting round
  • Share it with whoever helps you count
  • Avoid duplicate work from two separate copies

Family Collaboration

  • Create a household items Inventory
  • Share it with family members
  • Members with edit rights can keep adding or removing items

Pictorial Record Sharing

  • Generate a link for an Inventory that has canvases (wardrobe, display case)
  • Send it to friends to show the arrangement
  • They see only this one record
Tip

Inventory sharing lets other people read a record in full, which suits moves, stock counts, family upkeep and any scenario where you check against the same list.
