Expiry Reminders
Expiry reminders help you track item shelf life and avoid waste from expired items.
What Are Expiry Reminders
The expiry reminder feature can:
- Automatically track items with an expiry date set
- Display a list of expiring and expired items
- Visually show expiry date distribution on a calendar
- Send push notifications as expiry dates approach
For example, if you buy milk, medicine, or other perishable items, once you set an expiry date, the system will automatically remind you which items are expiring soon and which have already expired, helping you take action in time to avoid waste.
Setting an Expiry Date
- Edit an item and fill in the "Expiry Date" attribute
- Select the specific expiry date
- Save the item
- The system automatically tracks the shelf life
Reminders Page
Tap the alarm icon on the home page to enter the reminders page, which shows expiry reminders by default:
Calendar View
A calendar is displayed at the top for a visual overview of expiry date distribution:
- Dates with expiring items show the item image on the calendar, with a count when there are multiple items
- Tap a date to view items expiring on that day
- Swipe to switch months and view expiry dates across different periods
- Tap the title to open a month picker for quick navigation
Expiring Items List
Below the calendar is the item list:
- Name: Item name
- Expiry Date: The specific expiry date
- Days Remaining: Shows "X days remaining" or "Expired X days ago"
- Associated Attribute: The attribute name corresponding to the expiry date
Quick Date Update
You can update the expiry date directly from the reminder list:
- Tap the refresh icon on the right side of an item
- A date update panel appears
- Select a new expiry date
- The list refreshes automatically after saving
For example, if an item has expired and you bought a replacement, you can update the new expiry date directly from the reminder list without going into the detail page to edit it.
Filtering
You can filter expiring items by conditions:
- Tap the filter icon in the top right corner
- Select filter criteria (e.g., by collection, by status)
- The list shows only items matching the criteria
Viewing Item Details
- Tap an expiring item card
- Enter the item detail page
- View full information or edit the item
Push Notifications
When an item is approaching its expiry date, the system sends a push notification:
- By default, a reminder is sent 3 days before expiry
- The notification shows the item name and days remaining
- Tap the notification to view the item directly

Expiry Date vs. Purchase Date
| Attribute | Purpose | Reminder |
|---|---|---|
| Expiry Date | Item validity end date | Expiry reminder |
| Purchase Date | When the item was purchased | No reminder |
Expiry dates are suited for perishable items (food, medications, etc.), while purchase dates are for recording purchase history (electronics, clothing, etc.). Both can be used together.
