AI Item Recognition
Take a photo and AI can automatically recognize the item name, reducing manual input.
It is like taking a photo and asking a friend, “What is this?” AI looks at your photo and fills in the item name automatically. You do not need to type each name manually; after taking the photo, you can save it directly.
Feature Overview
AI item recognition is not a standalone feature. It is integrated into several entry methods and works automatically during entry:
- Stream Add: automatically recognizes item names after taking photos
- Batch Create: automatically recognizes item names after selecting images
- Multi-object Cropping: automatically recognizes each cropped item
AI recognition is an assisted step during item entry. It runs automatically in the features above and does not need to be enabled separately. If you do not need automatic recognition, you can turn off “Auto Recognition” in “Feature Settings” under System Settings.
Recognition Flow
In entry features that support AI recognition:
- Upload or take an item photo
- AI automatically analyzes the image content
- AI generates an item name suggestion
- You can accept it directly or edit it manually
- Confirm and save the item
How to Improve Recognition Accuracy
AI recognition quality is directly related to photo quality. These tips can help produce better results:
- Good lighting: shoot in a bright environment and avoid backlight or shadows
- Centered item: make the item occupy the main area of the image and avoid shooting from too far away
- Simple background: use a solid-color background where possible to reduce distractions; this works better with Background Removal
- Avoid occlusion: make sure the full item is visible and not blocked by other objects
- One item per image: if one image contains multiple items, use Multi-object Cropping to separate them first
Recognition Configuration
You can customize AI recognition behavior so results better match your needs:
- In AI Recognition Configuration, you can set the recognition category scope
- For example, if you mainly manage figures, you can bias recognition toward figure/model categories to improve accuracy
Use Cases
Fast entry after moving
After moving, you may need to enter many items. Use stream add to take photos one by one; AI recognizes names automatically, and you only need to confirm and adjust them. This is much faster than manual input.
Organizing collectibles
Collectibles such as figures and models often have complex names. AI can recognize an approximate name, and you can then add the specific series and number.
Taking inventory
Take photos of shelf items one by one, let AI recognize item names, and combine it with batch creation to complete inventory entry quickly.
Notes
- Recognition results are AI suggestions and may not be 100% accurate; review them before saving
- Unusual items such as handmade or customized items may not be recognized accurately
- Items with similar packaging, such as different flavors from the same snack brand, may be recognized as the same name
AI item recognition requires membership access. Free users have a limited number of uses per day.
